Myself as a Leader at LUCT
A leader is a person who guides or
inspires others within an organization or community to achieve a goal. Being a
leader is a huge responsibility. I believe leadership
is having qualities that make others around you want to follow your lead. In
education, that person will have a clear, vivid vision of the goal they want
their University to reach, as well as a broad knowledge of the how to reach
their goal. They need to assist and work in partnership with others to
arrange and organize methods for success and spend many hours learning about
the needs of the organization. Furthermore, it is my firm belief that by collaborative work together with the staff of the university and
the fellow students only an effective leader can bring about needed change to
create an environment equipped for increasing student achievement. These
attributes are critical in a good leader’s abilities to lead with purpose. This
will be a key to achieving the desired goal.
As a Leader at Limkokwing University,
my very first priority will be to be a role model to the students of this
culturally diverse university. Moreover, I want to be a person everyone can
count on. A friend of every student, who is available all the time to share
their concerns. As a leader I want to be able to work for the welfare of the
student and the betterment of the university itself. Furthermore, it would be
one of my priority to know what the students want. Whether they want a facility
that needs to be brought up to speed or a new activity that showcases their
talents and skills. It would be my upmost duty to take the students concern to
the desired authorities and make sure the matters are solved. By that why, I
can be a very efficient and reliable leader.
Moreover, on my path to leadership, I must analyze
my own personal being and decide which are the values I should value and
develop the most and what I must do each day to reach up to my full potential.
Reading, creating and learning something new every day are some of the
top priorities of my list. Good leaders always develop and learn new things,
either to be able to communicate with their colleagues or to be able to apply
that later in the life. For me, as a leader at a very culturally rich and
diverse university, learning a new language is key to be able to communicate
and gain the trust and friendship of my colleagues. Moreover, I also want
to have a positive impact on the people I meet on a daily basis. I want to be
able to help people as much as I can. I want myself to be taken as an
inspiration to help others by people, and especially the students of Limkokwing
University. Additionally, I also want to be engaged in creating awareness of my
surroundings and the environment among the students of Limkokwing University.
Likewise, as a Leader who
is leading students I should look at my strengths and weaknesses. These will be
another vital area to for me to focus on when dealing with students and
authorities. I should assess my strengths and weakness and focus on what needs
to be improved. For me every improvement is a step forward as a leader.
Moreover, I feel I am a very organized, approachable, and a quick and creative
problem solver. However, there are some area’s that needs a little bit of
improvements, such as focusing my drive on the task at hand and being watchful
to not take on too many responsibilities all by myself, but look to others to
share the workload, especially those with expertise in the area. Furthermore,
enhancing my strengths and working on my weaknesses is an ongoing process I
will reflect on daily and look to continual reevaluate over time.
One of the many skills of a great leader is the communication skill.
Good communication skills have solved several problems. I can apply several
forms of communications, such as written, verbal and visual demonstrations to
deal with problems. In a culturally diversified environment such as Limkokwing
University, I will come across students of several attitudes. It’s all upon me
to decide which type of approach will be the best when dealing with students of
different attitudes. The way I approach them will also play an important role
in determining my reputation among the students. As a leader, I would prefer to
talk to the students face to face in order to solve the problems. The face to
face communication and a friendly approach normally will be the best when
dealing with problems involving aggressive students. So, as a leader I will be
a very friendly and easy going person, who is always available for the students
whenever they need to contact me.
Me, as a leader of Limkokwing university will be a very skillfully
rich person who can deal with any problem with ease. For the students to
cooperate with the university it is very important to have a middle man with
various skillset. Someone with excellent communication, planning and problem
solving skills. So, when they elected me as the student leader they have put
their faith in me to be that middle man between the university authorities and
the student. So, it is my responsibility to show my maximum effort to prove
both the students and the university authorities that I am worth of this post.
So far I have proven that with the valuable skillset I am the leader they
deserve.
Juxtaposition
for the leadership
No matter what you are planning on
executing, you need a well structured plan. Yet a plan does not matter if you
cannot execute it, and to do that you need someone to look at the big picture
and guide the others working to achieve the same goal, and they go into 2
categories:-
The Boss: the person who runs the show
by telling others what to do, and looking at the end result of the out puts of
the workers and simply judges the work negatively or positively , instead of
suggesting and listening, He/She can be described as a person who know
everything about one thing, be it leading, managing , etc.
The Leader: the person who runs the
show by collaborating with the people they work with, and helps improve the
connection between the workers in their working environment, and He/She can be
described as a person who knows one thing about everything, helping them
work closer with employees as they have some knowledge.
They also take suggestions, and listen.
Courage and confidence are the most
important things to be a leader, and as leader you have to got the Creativity to think out of
the box, looking for new solutions for the team and for sure a pure qulity
to get the trust from the team as a leader.
The leadership position has risks that
every move you do is count, There is intense pressure on the leader not only in the distribution the
business on the team, but also to motivate them and to look at the progress of the
project and to find alternative solutions for them if they have one, that what I call a leader at LUCT.
